Nigel is the owner of Mother Kelly’s – an independent group of American style taprooms, English pubs and bottle shops that specialise in selling beer from small independent breweries across the World.
They buy and support local independent producers and suppliers across their business wherever they can.
Across their venues you can find bread from Breid Bakers, chocolate from Land, pretzels from Twisted Pretzel, pickles from Newton & Pot.. London based but not so local… cheese from Neal’s Yard Dairy & Olives/meat from Brindissa.
I can’t be idle and I don’t like to stay at home for prolonged periods. I’m always on the go and have found that I’ve had my most productive days when I’ve walked up the road to either our E2 or E9 venue and worked from there. I’ve also been reminded of how dedicated my team is, they have worked really hard to keep everything going. Big thanks to all of them, especially to Naike, Ree and Egis who have worked right the way through lockdown.
Apart from keeping myself busy with work, I’ve reminded myself how much I get out of regular exercise and also reading. I’ve been ploughing through books over the last few months and really recommend The Choice by Edith Eger.
To stock up I would start by heading to Old Street Brewery and purchasing their new “Are You Cereal?”, crunchy nut, peanut milk stout. We have a great relationship with the OSB guys and they are brewing some pretty exciting beers in lockdown.
Next I’d pop next door to Renegade Urban Winery for a bottle of Ebony, their 2018 Tempranillo.
I’m looking forward to grabbing a ginger tea or fruit smoothie from The Beehive London in Bethnal Green, once they re-open next month!
