Sarah Lazenby

Head Of Sales | Orbit Beers

Sarah grew up in Sheffield where her dad owned a pub so she has always been massively into beer and hospitality has played a huge part in her life. She has spent most of her life writing recording music and touring and at 21 she moved to Hastings to run a music café. Six years later was signed to an offshoot of Universal records.

Eventually Sarah moved to London to manage steak restaurant Flat Iron; introducing a beer list that was rolled out across all their venues.

After a short stint in recruitment for the drinks industry (specialising in beer) and a bout of illness, she quit her job to pursue what she loved most…beer & music.  And what better company to join than Orbit Beers who hold both those things dear.  Their work is inspired by the ethos of their favourite record labels who hold music and art above all else; encouraging you to listen, think, and drink independent.

Music continues to run deep through Sarah’s veins as she continues to write, sing and DJ at craft beer events across Europe. Every year for record store day Sarah hosts an Orbit event with Audio Gold one of London’s best second hand hi-fi retailers. Their owner Robin is a top guy and loves craft beer.

It is clear that Sarah loves her job as she gets to work alongside a great team and wider industry as an artist with the freedom to express herself. You can follows Sarah’s Music on instagram @sweetoothvibes and her Art @arttooth.

Lockdown has taught me

…to slow down and appreciate everything and everyone more. Also having more time to be creative. I’ve started painting and making more music! Also the importance of being able to make killer Micheladas – I’m obsessed with them and they’ve seen me through lockdown!

Clamato juice/ Tajin seasoning/ Valentino picante sauce/ lager/ maggi liquid seasoning is my tip for perfection!

On a professional level, it’s great to be available no matter what time of day on the end of the phone for customers and I’ve also been creating a lot of music playlists!

The most wonderful thing that I’ve noticed is that all breweries are sticking together and supporting each other more than ever before, so I really hope that continues.

Some of my favourite local London places…

Indie Beer have the best selection in north London for craft beer and is owned by the loveliest couple Claire & Owen. They go above and beyond every time!

Mother Kelly’s All sites. They are massive fans of Orbit, they have also started offering growlers and crowlers, which is ace! The staff are always super friendly knowledgable and they love supporting local breweries.

Louie Louie  in SE17 is an amazing local cafe/bar opposite the brewery. They have adapted their business since lockdown and have incredible chefs who create fresh and frozen ready meals to takeaway, They also sell all the essentials – eggs, bread, flour plus beer. Owners Chris & Lena are lovely & really into vinyl!

The Star by Hackney Downs run by the legendary Mario, who is also an incredible artist. Doing takeaway pints, right by Hackney Downs. In fact, the Electric Star Pubs group have some of the most welcoming & friendly pubs in London. They support the LGBT and community and amazing staff and music is big on their agenda. The owner Rob Star is an absolute legend.
